　　Hi, everybody. This Sunday is Father’s Day, and so I wanted to take a moment to talk about the most important job many of us will ever have and that’s being a dad.

　　Today we’re blessed to live in a world where technology allows us to connect instantly with just about anyone on the planet. But I still wish I had a dad who was not only around, but involved; another role model to teach me what my mom did her best to instill – values like hard work and integrity; responsibility and delayed gratification – all the things that give a child the foundation to envision a brighter future for themselves.

I’ll be thinking about Sasha’s dance recitals and Malia’s tennis matches –about the conversations we’ve had and the quiet moments we’ve shared. I’ll be thinking about whether I did right by them, and whether they knew, every day, just how much they were loved.

The three Sino-US Joint Communiques were signed in Shanghai in 1972.President Jiang Zemin visited the United States in late 1997, President Bill Clinton paid a 9-day visit to China in 1998. The key to the healthy and steady development of Sino-US ties is strictly abiding by the principles‘ set in the three Sino-US Joint Communiques. At present, China and the United States will continue to work together to set up a constructive strategic partnership.

　　Ladies and gentlemen, just now I ‘ve held official talks with President Cliton. The two sides have held an extensive and in-depth exchange of views on China-U.S. relations and the major international and regional issues. The talks were positive, constructive, and productive. The successful exchange of visits between the two heads of states of China and the United States marks a new stage of growth of China-U.S. relations. This not only serves the common interests of China and the United States, but also will be of important significance to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Asia Pacific and the world at large.

　　和平与发展是当今时代的主题，在新的历史条件下，中美两国的共同利益不是减少了，而是加强了。两国合作的基础不是削弱了，而是加强了。

　　Peace and development are the main theme of contemporary times. In the new historical conditions, the common interests of China and the United States are increasing, not decreasing. The foundation for cooperation between the two countries is reinforcing, not weakening.
